Bucky Moonshine's menu reads like a love letter to Cajun soul food. The shrimp and grits are a standout, delivering creamy, buttery grit perfectly complemented by plump, juicy shrimp that burst with flavor in every bite. Their chicken and waffles prove why this classic pairing remains a timeless favorite—the waffle is crisp on the outside and tender inside, paired beautifully with savory, perfectly fried chicken. Don’t miss the boudin balls, which offer a crispy shell with richly spiced sausage filling that melts in your mouth.
For those seeking bold, traditional Cajun flavors, dishes like the Catfish Pontchartrain lunch and Jambalaya bring a satisfying depth of smoky, spicy, and hearty notes. The Voodoo Shrimp and Étouffée with shrimp are extraordinary, offering layers of flavor that reflect the rich culinary heritage of the region. The fried green tomatoes serve as a crunchy, tangy starter, while the banana pudding and sweet potato pecan pie deliver a sweet, comforting finish that feels like home on a plate.
The a la carte options add another level of customization—from succulent crab legs and jumbo shrimp to smoky andouille sausage and crispy bacon strips—allowing guests to tailor their meals and explore a range of textures and flavors.
Complementing the food is the thoughtfully curated drink menu, featuring an impressive selection of tequilas and moonshines, including premium bottles like DBL Clase Azul and Don Julio 1942. For those who prefer a smooth sip, the Scotch options such as Buchanan and Dewars round out the perfect pairing for your meal or night out.
But it’s not just the food and drinks that make Bucky Moonshine's shine. Real visitors consistently praise the lively brunch scene, from vibrant DJ sets that keep the crowd energized to the attentive, upbeat service that makes each visit memorable. One guest raved about the "slamming good" gator bites—tender, buttery, and paired with an irresistible sauce—while others call the chicken wings "always hitting," a reliable crowd-pleaser.
Though the music can be loud and the DJ entertainingly interactive, the restaurant balances the energy with genuine warmth in its service, making it a place where friends gather to feast, celebrate, and create lasting memories. Whether it’s a lively brunch outing or a spirited night out, Bucky Moonshine's delivers a rich, flavorful escape into authentic Cajun soul food with an unmistakably fun and festive Dallas twist.
Brunch here was lit! Walked in to a DJ spinning great music. The food was slamming good. Gator bites were like butter and the sauce was awesome. Crab boil was fresh and delicious and the gumbo was kick A. Our waitress was hilarious, upbeat and all over it!! You wanna party for brunch hit up Bucky Moonshines!!
It's a whole vibe! Went with my cousins for our monthly brunch and walked away completely satisfied. Except for the bottomless mimosas. "Bottomless" is an automatic note to self that there's minimal champagne in the mimosa. As for the food, it's top-tier. I got the shrimp and grits along with a Belgian waffle. I don't know what they use, but they're the BEST waffles I've ever eaten! The shrimp and grits are cheesy. They shrimp could be broiled/grilled, in my opinion, because they look like they came thawed out of a bag of frozen shrimp, but it's still good. And make sure you ask for your syrup to be heated. It makes the whipped butter melt perfectly. The DJ was playing the jams. They even had a karaoke type element to it. My one cousin even got on the mic, much to my horror , but we had a blast! If y'all haven't been to this spot, I highly suggest you go.
Had one of the best brunches I’ve had in Dallas here! Things pick up around 1 on Sunday and it is such a fun time with the live DJ! I had the chicken and waffles off of the brunch menu and it was phenomenal! Can’t wait to go back and try more items!!
This place is a hit or miss at times. The music is typically extra loud and the DJ tries to sing or plays pass the mic to any and every body. I'm sure it fun for most, but I come for the food and convo. Lol! I guess I'm introverted like that. But the service and my extra dirty martini were good! You cannot miss with their chicken wings. They always hit! The fried crawfish tails were good with the cocktail sauce. I also had the fried catfish with the dirty rice and topped w/ a crawfish sauce. It was just okay. I took it home to my mom. My daughter got the chicken wings & waffle . It was great, fluffy and buttery . This is not my first time here, nor will it be my last time here. The chicken is just that good!
It was my first visit and my surprise birthday lunch. Such a great time was had. Delicious shrimp and grits. All the orders looked great. The dj was great! #newfavspot
Stopped in for a quick lunch and was not disappointed. There was a DJ and it was a very festive atmosphere. Great food. Great service. HUGE selection of moonshine. Can't wait to go back.
